KPMG Partner, columnist and business advisor Bernard Salt argues that
Australia’s role over the next half century will be as a world food bowl.
And especially in terms of grain production. The world population is
expected to grow to 9 billion by the end of the 21st century
although some demographers are saying 14 billion. Either way there will
be increased demand for food and grain. The world’s fastest rising
markets in terms of spending capacity are on Australia’s doorstep; China, India
and Indonesia. Australia has a natural advantage in food production; we
need to leverage our growing skills together with marketing nous to ensure that
Australian agribusiness is at the forefront of meet the global demand for
food. Bernard Salt is one of this nation’s most compelling and
entertaining speakers. His presentation is not to be missed.
